Born and raised in Southern California, Bristol Coon is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter who pulls influences from the sixties LA rock scene and vintage country music. He also has a foundation in jazz & blues which paints a colorful palette for this California Coastal Cowboy.
Five years ago, my dad and I set out on a cross country roadtrip that would ultimately mark the end of the old and beginning the new for me. Our first stop was Arizona, where we spent time at the rodeo, in old saloons and retracing family heritage in out in the backroads of Prescott.
The next stop would take us north to a town called Williams en route to the Grand Canyon; Pine Country. A place on my dad’s bucket list he has been dreaming of taking me since I was a kid. After spending our first night bathed in neon on the most preserved stretch of Route 66 and drinking whiskey with the locals who had wandered down from the tree-line, we awoke early the next morning to take the Grand Canyon Railway fit with cowboy singers, train robbers and all. We experienced the awe inspiring nature of one of the most breathtaking views in the world and then spent the next morning having breakfast at the appropriately named Pine Country Restaurant… and of course we had to buy a souvenir mug…
The rest is written in this song.
I chose my dad’s birthday to release it since I will always cherish the time we had in Pine Country. Inspiring me always.
Love you, Dad.
I am currently in the studio recording a new album in Nashville, and am thrilled to begin sharing songs with you soon. I plan to continue playing them live and releasing new music for your enjoyment. I’m so blessed to live this dream and look forward to sharing all that’s on the horizon.
The project was inspired by playing laid back acoustic shows featuring pedal steel guitar player Evan Lane Phillips and mandolin player / multi-instrumentalist Maggie White. The EP consists of stripped arrangements ‘Tennessee Skies’ and ‘Tears in the Whiskey’ off my debut record plus a cover by a not so unfamiliar outlaw… Mixed and Engineered by Caleb Fisher at Farmland Studios and shot by Tanner Grandstaff with Aberration Media. Enjoy on YouTube.
In 2024, I released intimate recordings of songs that have been personal favorites of mine to play live on an EP titled “Farmland Sessions”. The recordings took place in the living room of what we consider here in Nashville the "OG Farmland" which was an old house in Green Hills.
“Feeling such gratitude to have had my song ‘Ain’t No Surf (in Nashville)’ featured in Devon Franklin’s and Tyler Perry Studios beautiful story about overcoming hardship and finding grace through one’s Faith. Ruth & Boaz is a modern day retelling of the biblical love story and takes you on an emotional roller coaster with a poignant message that anything is possible through God.”
